Winter holiday in Egypt

— The first time we visited Egypt, we discovered the extraordinary beauty of the Red Sea.”

Naama Bay

Our first of two trips to Egypt, this week away was a double header with Florence during the Christmas and New Year holiday period 2005-6.

This first time was all about getting some R&R and doing plenty of snorkelling. You can find out a bit more about Sharm and Naama Bay from our second trip to Egypt the following winter, when we did some of the historical visits including Cairo and Giza and Luxor.

In the meantime here’s a bit of camera footage, from a time when I was glued to my camcorder!

Hello you, I'm Mike Padgett. I'm not a Princeton curator, Knoxville mayoral candidate, Kentuckian pastor or Arizona journalist, I just share the same name. In fact, I am a consultant working in user experience and information design.

I also enjoy travel, concerts, films and walking.

I'm originally from Yorkshire, England but nowadays I live in Belgium. My current favourite Belgian beer is Black Albert.

Shameless self-promotion

Over a year in the making, Dopeology.org is my latest personal project: a topology of doping in thirty years of European pro road cycling.

I collected information from thousands of sources, then I modelled and published it via a lightweight user interface.
