What about not adding height: 1%;, but adding
to the end of parent block?

With new context at overflow:hidden of parent (or float with left or right value) clear ll be wirk only in parent block!

Many thanks indeed. I was just starting to get div tags to work and then this happened.
I found you very easily using “nest div float “
