Straffe Hendrik

4 stars out of 5

By De Halve Maan. 33cl, 9% ABV, serve at 10°

De Halve Maan (The Half Moon) operates out of Walplein in Brugge and has done so since 1856. The premises is open to visitors.

This tripel is, in my opinion, by far the finer of the two brews produced by this brewery. Crisp and bubbly, with a trace of a metallic taste giving way to a slightly fruity, slightly peppery body.

A beer that rewards multiple tastings!

5/5. Golden and lively with plenty of fizz. A little harsh as it meets the tongue, but packs a mature and very mellow finish. Definitely one of my favourite blondes.

2/5. Rich dark gold colour but not much in the nose. Very bitter on the tongue and a rather acidic aftertaste.
